Contents:
In this course students are trained in scientific skills. The course consists of the following components:
- preparation of the abstract, an appropriate title, and keywords for a domain related scientific paper without the abstract, keywords, and title. the article is domain related and is a just submitted or ready to submit paper;
- comparison of own abstract, keywords and title with those of the author and reflection on the differences;
-preparation of a referee report for the whole paper;
- preparation of a poster (a4) for this article and discuss this with other students that prepared a poster of the same paper;
- designing tables and figures (based on available data);
- discussion on scientific attitude on the basis of a set of prepositions;
- information literacy (short introduction on searching for information in different sources; visit to library).
Learning outcomes:
At the end of this course the student is expected to be able to:
- demonstrate a scientific attitude;
- find and use various relevant sources of scientific information;
- critically read and comment scientific papers;
- design the essential elements of scientific papers and reports like tables and figures, a discussion section and the conclusion.
