Contents:

A design assignment, excursions and literature study are grouped around our central theme, i.e. landscape design at the regional level. We take a region with a given spatial problem in order to practice the following:
- the use of cartographic analysis and perception studies in carrying out an area assessment;
- problem analysis and the spatial translation of the programme;
- spatial design at various scales and levels.

Aims:

- to enable students to see "form" in the landscape, also at a regional level;
- to enable students to correlate patterns on the map with the landscape as it appears to us in reality;
- to provide insight and skills with regard to co-ordinating designs at various levels and scales (e.g. regional landscape design at a scale of 1:25,000, with detailing to a scale of 1:1,000).

Activities:

- a design studio;
- excursions;
- literature study.

Examination:

The design studio will be assessed on the basis of the assignments completed, i.e. a suitably motivated design.

Literature:

To be determined on an annual basis.
