Landscape Architecture and Planning (BLP) / BSc

Aims

The bachelor programme Landscape, Planning and Design focuses on the construction and reconstruction of the rural and urban landscape, the environment for humans, animals and plants. The landscape is approached from the perspectives of landscape architecture, spatial planning and spatial analysis.
The programme aims to enhance knowledge, skills and attitudes that are required to design, plan and analyse landscapes, both from the perspective of the creative arts and the natural and social sciences.
These competences relate to:
- abiotic, biotic and anthropogenic processes that determine landscape transformations, the socio-cultural, economic and ecological value and significance of the landscape and the physical appearances of the landscape;
- analysis and interpretation of these factors with regard to planning, design and management of the rural-urban metropolitan landscape of The Netherlands and Western Europe on various temporal and spatial scales;
- all phases of the planning and design process and to the development of a sound scientific foundation for planning and design objectives and solutions;
- communication with stakeholders and interest groups in society, but also in multidisciplinary teams with students of other specialisations in the programme ;
- the application of ICT technology in analysis, planning and design.
