Contents:

Attendance at an excursion lasting several days. The excursion is organised by the programme committee Biotechnology. The excursion will be held once a year. The excursion is limited to 24 students. Students closest to graduation in MSc Biotechnology or MSc Bioinformatics will be placed first. Information on this excursion will be provided via the mailing of the study advisory team of biotechnology and bioinformatics.

Learning outcomes:

After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:
- understand the state of the art in research and development in several biotechnology application areas in the visited country;
- understand how biotechnology is applied in several companies and research and development groups at universities and research institutes in the visited country;
- identify different approaches in biotechnological research and development, when comparing it with the approaches used in the Netherlands.

Activities:

Visiting laboratories or production units of institutes, universities or industry working in the field of study biotechnology.

Examination:

Testimonium based on individual attendance and contribution either to the organization, the preceding presentations about the visits or to the report of the visits.
