Contents:

The student has to study (by means of a literature review or empirical research) a subject within the field a specific social scientific area and prove to have sufficient knowledge to critically analyse and summarise the given subject. He/she must also be able to clearly communicate the findings in writing. The subject will be determined in consultation with the supervisor of the study and the essay co-ordinator.

Aims:

- to be able to integrate and apply knowledge obtained in the study;
- to be able to work individually and independently;
- to be able to plan and carry out the work within the available time;
- to be able to formulate a research problem and do (literature) research;
- to be able to report in writing;
- to master the subject matter.

Activities:

- to attend lectures;
- to do a literature study and carry out independent research;
- to be able to write a paper.
