Contents:

This course enables students to distinguish and appraise different components of organizational behaviour in the tourism industries. The course focuses on intra-organizational management issues with a focus on organizational behaviour. It takes the perspective of tourism industries (such as travel agents and suppliers, tour operators, accommodation providers, tourism agencies and conference organizers) and the way they are embedded and organized in tourism value chains.

Learning outcomes:

After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:
- compare and classify different approaches of management and organization studies as far as they are relevant to the understanding of tourism practices;
- recall the concepts of organizational behaviour and have them applied to tourism industries (such as travel agents and suppliers, tour operators, accommodation providers, tourism agencies and conference organizers);
- define core concepts in the field of management and organization studies including value chain management;
- illustrate the main developments in international tourism value chains;
- record and apply the principles of corporate social responsibility;
- develop a personal vision on tourism business sustainability (including supply chain management).

Examination:

- written open & closed questions exam (65%);
- case study report (group) (35%).
