Contents:

This interdisciplinary course introduces students to aspects of inter-organizational management, in particular different governance approaches and policy issues related to tourism. In the governance of the domain of tourism, policy and law relating to different levels (local, national, EU and global), and their linkages are important. During the course, students will become familiar with both public and private forms of governance, as well as mixed arrangements.

Learning outcomes:

After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:
- understand the core concepts in the study of policy, policy-making and governance;
- explain the principles of public policy and related institutions with regard to the tourism domain;
- apply the concepts and principles to the governance of tourism cases around the world, using different analytical tools that highlight the role of actors, institutions, interests and ideas;
- compare and evaluate policy-making and governance practices, with special attention to the relationship between tourism, nature conservation and development.

- lectures including literature study;
- tutorials;
- project work.

Examination:

- project assignments and presentation (50%);
- written exam (50%).
