Contents:

The Seminar Course assists students in developing a critical and scientific mindset and consists of:
- a basic block of 4 workshops which focus on a number of abilities for a scientific approach like: understanding, structuring and summarizing scientific information, critically reviewing and presentation of a review;
- attendance, participation and reflection on a number of colloquia to indicate their experiences with scientific research and formulate their ideas for future involvement in 'the scientific discourse';
- information literacy workshop with modules on black board: introduction to the scientific information environment and made confident users of the information sources that can be accessed via the library network. Students will learn to find, judge and manage information and knowledge efficiently and effectively;
- presentation of the thesis (proposal and final results) and serving as a co referent in other colloquia.

Learning outcomes:

After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to: - develop a scientific attitude - search scientific literature efficiently and effectively - review critically scientific papers and reflect on research colloquia - write abstracts and develop/present results (poster).

Examination:

In order to pass the course you have to have attended all workshops in the 'basic block', passed for all assignments, presented your own thesis proposal & results and been a co referent for fellow students.
