Contents:
This course gives an overview and insight in the basic concepts and methods in business economics, including the fields of (1) management accounting and control, (2) financial management and (3) financial accounting. Discussed in these different fields are:
Ad 1) cost and value concepts, cost calculation and planning and control;
Ad 2) investment selection, capital structure and financing;
Ad 3) financial reporting and profit calculation.;
Applications are among others in the agribusiness and the food industry.
Learning outcomes:
After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:
- know the basic concepts of and methods in business economics;
- be able to apply these concepts and methods on firms in the food supply chain.

Examination:
Written multiple choice exam (100%).
A premium arrangement based on casework is offered (maximum 1.0 grade point).
