General information

AMS, the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions was established in 2014 by a consortium consisting of Wageningen University, Delft University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology on the initiative of the Municipality of Amsterdam.

AMS is an international leading institute where talent is educated and engineers, designers, digital engineers and natural/social scientists jointly develop and valorise interdisciplinary metropolitan solutions. AMS focuses on applied technology in urban themes such as water, energy, waste, food, data and mobility, and the socio-spatial integration of these themes. AMS develops a deep understanding of the city - sense the city -, designs solutions for its challenges, and integrates these into the city. In that, Amsterdam is its home base and test bed; a living laboratory.
