Contents:
Taking a Cradle to Cradle (C2C) perspective, this course focuses on the development and critical interdisciplinary evaluation of sustainable solutions to design products, services and systems. The major topics include: environmental and other principles of the C2C concept; C2C design methodology; management issues relevant for implementation of C2C - at project, organisation and system levels; combination of environmental and management options to support C2C design.
Learning outcomes:
After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:
- explain c2c guiding principles and apply them to design of products, services and systems;
- identify and critically analyse relevant managerial issues for implementation of c2c in companies;
- combine environmental and managerial options and integrate them in a c2c design.
Activities:
- lectures;
- guest lectures on case studies from industry;
- tutorials;
- design project as group assignment.
Examination:
- report and presentation of the group assignment (60%);
- individual written exam (40%).
