Students can only start the course with an approved research proposal. It is possible to conduct fieldwork for the research during the BSc internship (IWE-70818 or LDD-70818)

Contents:

As the final element of the BIL program, students apply and integrate the knowledge obtained during their BSc International Land and Water Management major in a BSc thesis research. The course is a learning activity in which the students will become acquainted with data analysis and the development of a solid and well-written thesis. They will also learn how to present and defend their research outcomes in public.
During the course the students will regularly present progress on (elements or chapters of) their thesis and receive feedback from other students and from their supervisors. After handing in the final version of the thesis, students give a final oral presentation of their thesis work. Depending on the topic, students will be supervised by staff from the LDD or IWE chair groups. This course will be organized twice in an academic year, and has to be carried out in the Netherlands.

Learning outcomes:

After this course students will be able to:
- apply and integrate their knowledge in a land and water management research issue or design subject;
- gather and interpret relevant data and use these to develop informed arguments;
- present the research and its results in a solid and well-written thesis (in English);
- present and defend the thesis clearly and fluently, with use of supportive media;
- give, receive and make use of constructive feedback.
