Contents:
This course examines leisure and tourism in the context of globalization processes. These processes will be analyzed on a theoretical, empirical as well as normative level.
Central themes are:
- transformations in leisure and tourism places;
- socio-economic, technological, ecological and cultural determinants of change.
Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to:
- write a scientific article in which the relation between leisure and tourism and globalisation is analysed and discussed;
- describe and explain the ways globalisation processes influence tourism and leisure and vice versa;
- identify and reproduce different views on the relation between globalisation and tourism and leisure;
- comprehend and discuss the changing nature of economic, technological, cultural and policy aspects of globalisation and explain the way these aspects are linked to leisure and tourism;
- understand and explain current issues and debates concerning the application and implications of new technologies in a global context;
- present and defend their perspective on the relation between globalisation and leisure and tourism.
Activities:
Literature search, literature review, scientific writing, defending/argumenting/critical reviewing, group work, one day field trip.

Written exam, assignments.
