Contents:

This course considers how societies impact people's health and their bodies against the background of three sociological perspectives (stratification, social cohesion and modernisation). By discussing classical and recent studies, the aim is to develop a critical understanding of the interrelationships between health, society and health care.

Learning outcomes:

At the end of the course unit, the student is expected to be able to:
- know classical and recent sociological studies on health, health care and the body;
- be able to apply this knowledge;
- have a analytical-sociological attitude towards the relationship between health, society and health care.
