The course teaches the basic concepts and study designs used in epidemiology and public health. It contains lectures on study design and other methodological issues, lectures by epidemiologists working in various disciplines and a ICT-based practical to practice knowledge on study designs and calculation of basic epidemiological and public health measures.

Learning outcomes:

- demonstrate the ability to name, recognize, distinguish and indicate the advantages and disadvantages of the basic study designs used in epidemiology and public health;
- demonstrate the ability to compute and interpret basic epidemiological and public health measures;
- describe important public health problems and their determinants.


The student will:
- prepare and follow lectures, using the prescribed written study materials;
- perform regular self tests;
- conduct the ICT-based practica.
