This course builds upon introductory courses in environmental policy and environmental and resource economics and prepares students for thesis research in these fields. The course will elaborate on recent developments in policy and economics, inviting students to make methodological comparisons between theories and analytical instruments for analyzing environmental problems.
Themes covered in the course include:
- decision making and risk society;
- trans-boundary environmental management;
- governing trade and environment.

Learning outcomes:

After following the course students have: - gained advanced knowledge and insight in theoretical developments in political science and environmental economics;
- built competency in discussing and applying research tools in environmental policy and economics with reference to specific case studies;
- acquired skills in writing and defending a paper on a case study within one of the three themes.
