Contents:

This course gives an overview and insight in the basic concepts and methods in business economics, including the fields of (1) management accounting and control, (2) financial management and (3) financial accounting. Discussed in these different fields are:
Ad 1) cost and value concepts, cost calculation and planning and control;
Ad 2) investment selection, capital structure and financing;
Ad 3) financial reporting and profit calculation.;
Applications are among others in the agribusiness and the food industry.

Learning outcomes:

After this course the student:
- knows the basic concepts and methods in business economics;
- is able to apply these concepts and methods in decision problems and the analysis of financial reports.

Activities:

Lectures, (computer) practicals, self study and case study.

Examination:

Written exam including multiple choice questions
