Soil and Water 1 (LAD-10806).

Contents:

This course consists of two parts of 3 credits each: Soil and Water. It is a continuation of Soil and Water 1 (LAD-10806). In this course the focus is more on 'processes', whereas in Soil and Water 1 the focus was on 'system description'. Main subject is an introduction to physical, chemical and biological processes in soil, groundwater and surface waters. Furthermore management aspects of soil and water are dealt with.

Learning outcomes:

After this course the student will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of soil properties, the role of (ground)water and water management, and interactions of soil and water;
- demonstrate knowledge in the field of soil- and water processes.

Activities:

- prepare and follow lecture;
- practice exercises (in lectures and on the websites;
- some practical experiments on soil chemistry.

Examination:

Individual written exam in two separate parts (soil and water).

For both soil and water course-manuals are available at the WUR-shop.
