This advanced course focuses on studying, critically reviewing, presenting and discussing scientific articles or chapters from books on several topics in environmental and natural resource economics. The articles or chapters have been selected from international journals or books and will be studied and analyzed by the students. Each student will write a critical review on a set of papers on a certain topic and will present it to the staff and students. To participate in this course students should have advanced knowledge of economics and should have taken at least one additional advanced course in environmental or natural resource economics. The prerequisites are indicated in detail in the course outline.

Learning outcomes:

- the student is able to study a number of specific topics and methodologies from national and international literature on environmental economics;
- the student is able to critically study and review papers and articles on environmental economics, and prepare both oral and written presentations.
The course prepares for writing a MSc thesis on Environmental and Natural Resource Economics.


To study articles from the reader, to write a paper, and to make exercises. To attend the presentations and participate in the discussion. Every student presents a paper and acts as a discussant.


50% written examination; 50% paper.
