BSc Minor Bio-Based Technology (WUBBS) / BSc

Profile

Transition from fossil to sustainable energy and raw materials requires technical innovation and different approaches to chain management. The BSc minor Bio-based Technology focuses on technical strategies and development to replace fossils by bio-mass. Attention is given to a number of renewable resource applications, to renewable energy production and the necessary chain integration to make this possible.

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this minor students are expected to be able to:
- describe technologies for production of renewable energy and other applications of renewable resources;
- discuss chain integration for large scale application of renewable resources;
- analyse and design renewable energy chains;
- illustrate the term ' sustainability' and determine a personal opinion on sustainability;
- judge if a described petrochemical application can be replaced by biobased technology.
