MSc track entrepreneurship; ELS-66700 Pursuing and Realising Entrepreneurial Projects.
This course offers the student the possibility to learn and practice (their personal) entrepreneurial theory, skills and attitudes. Through provided literature, skills training, guest lectures, conducting interviews and reflection on personal development students experience the initial steps in the entrepreneurial process.
NB. Part of the classes of ELS-66100 overlap, and are scheduled similar to ELS-66700 Pursuing and Realizing Entrepreneurial Projects. This is meant to stimulate peer learning on individual entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship.
After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:
- identify important personal characteristics of entrepreneurial individuals;
- understand the importance of learning & personal development in an entrepreneurial project;
- apply entrepreneurial tools from theory on their own personal situation;
- identify (their own) strengths and weaknesses in personal entrepreneurial projects skills;
- compare their project with peer projects;
- validate their own analyses with an external assessment through interviews with stakeholders and customers;
- construct an entrepreneurial idea;
- compose an entrepreneurial pitch;
- execute an entrepreneurial pitch.
A module with three sessions of 4 hours. Next to these meetings the students spend at least 20 hours on reading articles and making home assignments. During each session the student is provided with theory and assignments on several aspects of starting entrepreneurial projects.
Finally we offer students to engage in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. We will aim for students to create a personal focus on and awareness of:
- applying modern entrepreneurship tools;
- finding inspiration;
- sharing entrepreneurial ideas passion with significant others;
- creating and pitching ideas, services or products.
In the sessions we will address proactive attitude, risk taking, being flexible, locus of control and keeping an open mind towards different ideas and viewpoints.
The final assessment consists of:
- an entrepreneurial pitch (50%);
- a report in which students describe, reflect and elaborate on their development during the course and their home assignments (50%).
Both elements need a minimum mark of 5.5 to pass the course.
Requisites are active participation in class and active contribution to the learning process of fellow students.
