Entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship are largely dependent on human efforts. Identifying new opportunities and realising entrepreneurial goals are impossible without competent people. Managing and developing those capacities is key. In this interdisciplinary course a multilevel perspective on the management and development of human competencies is taken; competencies in general and entrepreneurial leadership and an entrepreneurial workforce in particular. The entrepreneurial team is regarded as the pivot between the individual and organizational level; teams are considered to be the major vehicle for new venture creation and known to be responsible for many successful start-ups, spin-offs and spin outs today. More specifically, competence development and management will be studied from the following three perspectives:
- the enactment and development of entrepreneurial and leadership skills on the individual level;
- entrepreneurial learning, collaboration and interaction on the team level;
- embedding entrepreneurship and the development of an entrepreneurial culture in (r&d) departments and sme's on the organizational level.
After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to:
- understand theories, concepts and models with regard to managing and developing entrepreneurship on different levels in general and on the team level in particular;
- analyse the role of managing and developing competencies in entrepreneurial firms;
- construct an entrepreneurial advisory report for a (real) company or organisation in the agro-food/life sciences, specifically about the team level;
- reflect on the content of their advisory report in a discussion with the teachers.

Each component needs a minimum mark of 5.50.
