Mucosal diseases are a major problem, not only in humans, but also in productive livestock animals. Respiratory infections in livestock animals result in massive use of antibiotics in the sector, resulting in unwanted resistance and health problems. Here, students will learn about the specifics of the mucosal immune system by literature study and will implement this knowledge to theoretically design strategies to target the mucosal immune system via nutritional- or immunotherapy.
