Contents:
Origins and progress of teh European integration process, structure and shape of the European Union, instruments and effects.
The course consists of 4 parts:
- political integration;
- economic integration;
- societal integration;
- external relations.
Aims:
To offer the students some understanding of the governmental, economic and social contexts of their future professional sphere of activity.
Activities:
The whole course consists of two series of lectures, one to be given in the first period, the subsequent one during the third period.
Examination:
The students are considered as to write a paper of approximately 25 pages on a subject-matter of their own choice, connected with the European Integration. An alternative may be: an oral examination of ca 20 minutes.
Literature:
Study materials: four readers completed by, eventually, a Supplement, which together make up a complete textbook. In those readers references are made to further literature.
Study plan: the course is part of the curriculum 'International Policy and Administration' (Internationaal Bestuur), and is connected with the courses on European Law and on European Societal History.
