Contents:

The course gives insight in the philosophical ethics and it will make the student acquainted with deontology (Kant), utilitarianism (Bentham), virtue ethics (Aristotle), Stoa and Levinas' ethics. It also gives insight in the way, how several ethical systems are founded and how one thinks about luck, freedom, moral sense, and responsibility.

Aims:

After following this course, the student is expected to be able to distinguish the difference between ethical approaches and knows how to evaluate their questions.

Activities:

Studying the course text and text fragments from the philosophers discussed. Answering questions and discussions based on the given the texts.

Examination:

Paper or oral exam.

Literature:

A reader will be available at the beginning of the course.
